Hoop House Matters

Since the weather is mild and not too windy,  today is a good day to finish retro-fitting our hoop house with roll-up sides.  We built the hoop house last year but it did not ventilate properly and so we hardly used it.  We grew all our seedlings in the basement and hardened off by bringing everything in and out of the garage everyday - which was a time consuming farce.  You should have seen us in the spring when there would be a sudden thunderstorm, and there were many, and we would run downstairs and try to get all the tomatoe plants back into the garage, and by the time we got them all back in, we would be soaking wet and the storm would be over.  So we are really looking forward to using the hoop house this year.

And keep in mind, we are just normal 40-year-olds with no actual building skills, so its always pretty funny when we sit down to read the instructions for building the hoop house or the new sides, and they make no sense at all.  So Jeff calls the hoop house company located, in Georgia, and asks a question about how Part A is supposed to fit into to Part B, and in their very thick southern accents they say, "well its just common sense sir."

So today the hoop house got its new roll-up sides, and we hope the project will be completed by tomorrow morning with the help of our neighbor Jake (a young strong lad), and hopefully before the wind picks up, so the whole hoop house doesn't blow away.
