The Skunk

Winter is passing by quickly and we are dreaming of spring.

Sometimes living in the country has its moments of excitement and dread, with natures life cycle always present.  Last night Jeff took our dog Seve out for his last potty outing of the day and Seve ran out to the barn barking with his hackles up.  Jeff caught up with him and via his head lamp saw what looked like a baby skunk splayed out on the ground playing dead.  Jeff and Seve ran back to the house full speed and managed not to get sprayed - phew!

But this morning I am sad to say that there is a baby skunk about 1 mile down the road from our house sitting on the side of the road.  Alive, but maybe not doing so well - it is strange and uncharacteristic to see an animal of that type in broad daylight sitting by the road side.

Good luck little skunk - I wish I knew what to do for you.
